National Gallery Accolade

This week a group of pupils visited the National Gallery to see our artwork on display.

Our sculpture, inspired by the work by artist Joseph Wright of Derby's An Experiment on a Bird in the Air Pump, is on show until August.

Every year, as part of the Gallery's Take One Picture programme, primary schools nationwide focus on one of their paintings and respond creatively to its themes and subject matter, historical context, or composition.

Take One Picture aims to inspire cross-curricular learning, as well as a lifelong love of art.

Our artwork was created last year and the project was funded by the Friends of Maple Walk.

This year we will be looking at Men of the Docks, by George Bellows.
